THE GROUP STYLE INVENTORY™

ABOUT THE GROUP STYLE INVENTORY™

The Group Styles Inventory (GSI) is a powerful tool designed to unlock the true potential of a team. In any organization, group dynamics play a crucial role in determining the overall productivity, efficiency, and success of the team. Understanding the unique characteristics and preferences of your team members can foster a harmonious and collaborative work environment, leading to greater achievements and innovation.

The tool provides a valid and reliable measure of how people in groups interact with each other and work as a team to solve problems by delving into the individual working styles, communication preferences, and problem-solving approaches of each team member. By gaining insights into these aspects, the inventory enables teams to build a comprehensive understanding of their collective dynamics and discover areas for improvement.

The tool has been developed by Robert A. Cooke, Ph.D. and J. Clayton Lafferty, Ph.D.

OUR PROCESS

The GSI consists of 72 statements, measuring 12 group styles that describe the following:

  • The climate or atmosphere of the group’s team work session;
  • The different types of behaviour exhibited by team members;
  • The possible impact of the team as whole on individual members

The tool takes 15-20 minutes to complete (each license to take the assessment is chargeable at a nominal fee). The team members score their own surveys and profile their individual results on the Human Synergistics Circumplex to provide a picture of their own perceptions of the group and its styles.

Our Accredited facilitators then take you and your teams through a detailed debrief around the outcomes of the result to help you leverage this information to ensure team cohesion and greater productivity.
